Teacher's Day Celebrations

Teacher's Day is celebrated in India on September 5 every year, to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a great educator and is known for his invaluable contribution to the education systme in India.

This year, at Grade 1 the students created "Happy Teacher's Day" badges for the PYP teachers and very lovingly pinned them. This exercise was integrated with the current unit of "How we organize ourselves" where the Central Idea was "Public places may establish a sense of community". In this instance the community that was included was "Teachers".

The event was successfully concluded by revisiting the concept of 'community' with the students.
