Action taken by Grade 1P students-Term 1
During the TD theme who we are, children
started taking self-initiatives to resolve conflicts and demonstrated the same
through pictures and stories of situations where they resolved conflicts
outside school themselves.
For such actions they were given peace
awards. They also related meditating with peacemaking.
A guest lecture to illustrate various ways
to resolve conflict situations, was truly a wow moment for children. The
students were also seen referring to the solution wheel in the class when they
were caught in a situation of conflict.
Students came up with various ways to
display patterns. Amyra showcased patterns from her room (wall and bed sheet).
Children found a line of symmetry in the
basketball court of the school. Amyra tried an innovative way to present her
eager beaver presentation. Kids explored the usage of articles themselves by
reading books.
Students gave both their teachers a Learner
Profile.
The students also helped their teachers organize
the classroom.
Harnav and Abhiraj conducted experiments at
home to see for themselves the effect of too hot and too cold. Abhiraj also
visited Nehru planetarium with his family to learn more about the solar system.
Harnav also conducted an experiment to understand gravity.
Dhanika made Earth and the elements
required for survival with the help of playdough. Abhiraj used a telescope to
look at stars.
The students used their water bottles to
depict the order of planets themselves. Sanvi also conducted the experiment to
learn the effect of too hot too cold.
Naina and Harnav conducted another
experiment to see the water droplets accumulate due to boiling water
(condensation) to go further with their learning from too hot and too cold.
Krishnav brought an inflatable solar system
for the whole class.
Term 1 of session 2017-18 has been really
exciting and full of learning. Looking forward to Term 2 of this session.
